Theaterfanfare Kunst voor het Volk

About us

Below you can find some information about Kunst voor het Volk, a fanfare orchestra in The Hague. The rest of our website is in Dutch. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact us. Musicians are welcome to join us!

Theatre fanfare

Kunst voor het Volk (‘Art for the People’) is a ‘theatre fanfare’. Besides regular concerts, we make shows where we combine beautiful music with theatrical elements, like acting, interactivity and poetry. We always try to surprise our audience with something new. Take a look at our photos and videos to get an idea of what we do.

What is a fanfare orchestra?

The instrumentation of a fanfare orchestra is somewhat different from a wind band or a brass band. A fanfare has flugelhorns, trumpets, trombones, french horns, euphoniums, tubas, saxophones and percussion.

Repertoire

Our repertoire is very diverse and changes regularly. We play challenging concert works as well as light music. These are some of the pieces you can find on our music stands at the moment:

Concert works

Harmony Festival – Jan de Haan
Verso Libre – Arend Gerds

Light music

Back to the Future – arr. Juri Briat
Blue Rondo à la Turk – arr. Marten Grond
Toccata in D Minor – arr. Lieuwe de Jong

Play along

Do you play any of the instruments mentioned above and would you like to play in an orchestra in The Hague? Then Kunst voor het Volk is the place to be.

We welcome musicians from all over the country and from abroad. Whether you’re an expat, an international student or you moved here for another reason, we’ll try to make you feel at home. So please feel free to drop by at a rehearsal if you’d like to know what it’s like to be part of our band. You can play along for a couple of weeks without any obligations. That’s the best way to find out if you want to be one of us (of course you do!).

Our rehearsals are on Mondays from 20h00 until 22h00 at Theater De Vaillant, Hobbemastraat 120 in The Hague.

If you have any questions or if you’d like to visit a rehearsal, please let us know. You can fill out the form below or give us a call: Maaike, 06 1251 0834.
